The name Laslo keeps turning up—on the lips of a dying man, on a scrap of paper found in a fireplace, and most importantly, in the black book left to Jessica Starbuck by her father, listing cartel members bent on taking control of the United States.

Why is the cartel interested in stealing cattle meant to feed the Indians? Trouble is brewing on the Apache reservation and there is talk of war.
