About This Book

While on vacation and enjoying a late night stroll, Jason is startled when an assailant leaps from the shadows and tries to gun him down . Out of nowhere another stranger appears and saves Jason's life, dying in his place. After this near-death experience, he returns home to make amends with his estranged fiancée and daughter, in hopes of becoming a better man and father. Yet Jason's path to redemption is thwarted when nightmares of a woman's murder consume him, eventually landing him in the local psychiatric ward where he befriends Wolfe, an eccentric doctor who suffers from the same condition. Jason is told what the visions are: a future homicide that only he can prevent by dying in her place, the next link of a sacrificial chain reaching back for centuries. Determined to outsmart fate, Jason and Dr. Wolfe try to find a way out of the sacrificial system they are trapped in. Along the way, Jason must come to terms with his own failures as a man and father and decide whether he is willing to lay down his life for the woman who haunts his dreams; ultimately, he must weigh the true costs and rewards of sacrifice.
