Living Berkeley

In the sequel to Growing Up Berkeley, Lilly Autumn Matthews faces her parents' hypocrisy and their unwillingness to let her date the boy of her dreams, Irish soccer player, Sean O'Brien. Because he is a senior and she is a freshman, they feel that he is too old for her. Her mother also attempts to steer her away from playing soccer and instead focusing on dance. Lilly makes some choices she is not proud of, but after learning more about her mother's past as a rebel and a hippy who fought for civil rights and was part of the Free Speech Movement at Cal, Berkeley, she finds the courage to confront her parents. Living Berkeley is the story of a young girl growing up in Berkeley in the 1980's and wishing it were the 1960's. It is the story of the complex relationships of three generations of women, a story of first love, and the story of a teenager and how her life is affected by the changes that she can't control . . . and the choices that she can.
