Sheriff Thad Halsey's tough, no-nonsense exterior hid a not-so-secret heart of gold. No one had ever really seen the sheriff riled...until Lindy Shapiro and her red Cadillac sped into town, just begging for trouble. When Thad laid eyes on that wild Texas rose, he knew just what he had to do to tie her down -- arrest her, making good and sure she wouldn't go anywhere without his permission!

But impetuous Lindy made a point of disobeying authority...and as the entire town of Corrigan, Texas, stood back to watch the sparks fly, the sheriff learned no one kept Lindy Shapiro under lock and key...unless, that is, she wanted to be!
