Bill Gates and Paul Allen, in the twentieth century, built a new technology that would change the world. In the twenty-first century, two young entrepreneurs, Kenneth Shepherd and Bernard Rush, form a space company in New Boston, Massachusetts, to exploit the riches of the asteroid belt. In a bitter disagreement, Bernard leaves Shepherd Industries to start his own competing company.
