Lifeboat to Scorpio

It was widely known that it could be built; it was just a matter of engineering, logistincs and finance. It was becoming apparent that it had to be built, as global warming had it's way with the planet Earth. Construction began on the starship, in orbit, above Earth. No one anticipated the angry and vitriolic opposition from the major religions on Earth; the formation of militias that attacked logistical sites; and no one expected the rate of the habitat deterioration due to global warming. Civilization was crumbling around them as the orginization responsible for the project struggled to complete the starship and laucnch it toward the planet in the Scorpio star system.
