About This Book
When President Angus McDuff's ranch foreman dies of a mysterious illness, along with the Secret Service agent assigned to protect him, the Dallas hospital that treated him is shaken. Later, when it is determined that they both were infected by a yellow fever virus while attending a New York Knicks' game in Madison Square Garden, it becomes apparent that they-and thousands of spectators at the game-are victims of a terrorist attack. Just when it appears that things couldn't possibly get any worse, the Louisiana Superdome comes under attack during a Super Bowl game by terrorists armed with the yellow fever virus, infecting tens of thousands of people. As the plot unfolds, the terrorists are linked to a leftist government in Venezuela hostile to American oil interests. With Congress' approval, President McDuff launches a surprise attack against Venezuela, invading the oil-producing nation for the express purpose of deposing the president and setting up a government that is friendly to the U.S.That would probably be the end of the story, but for the efforts of television reporter Candace Ross, who is married to Harry Ross, special counsel to President McDuff. Candace discovers that the attacks were undertaken with the support of a Texas oil company that put together a covert operations team to frame the leftist government. As Candace works to solve the phony terrorist plot, she is targeted for assassination by Razz Pughton, the retired U.S. army colonel who spearheaded the covert operation with the help of a right-wing, paramilitary organization.
