This is a heartwarming book about maturation, both a young man's during his most formative years, 10 to 14, and our country's. The story takes place in and around a large mid-south city, Memphis, Tennessee, circa 1939 into the declining years of World War II. Those of you that were there will revel in reliving that Big Band era. Younger readers will find a delightful tale about one their own, will spiced with the wonderful, and sometimes not so wonderful, early experiences and emotions life has a way of throwing in our path.The title? Most of the story takes place in a boy's summer camp, "Lakewood". In the book you'll meet a wide variety of fascinating characters, like the Indian and John Willie, share lots of laughs like the phantom wild boar hunt, and experience the pangs of young love.
