Young Roger, Earl of Hereford, had a vision; he saw his England with a new king -- Henry of Anjou. It would take much travail, spilled blood, and an open rebellion against the present king, but Roger was determined that Henry of Anjou assume the throne of England as King Henry II.

As Roger became involved in court intrigues and duplicitous schemes, his passionate marriage to the beautiful Lady Elizabeth became more troubled--until suddenly the risks of battle and treachery were compounded by what seemed to be his own wife's betrayal.
