French emissary Stephen Picard has a double mission to King Edward's court, officially working on a treaty between their two countries while clandestinely assessing support for restoration of Lancastrian King Henry to the throne. Luciana Howard, personal attendant to the English queen, spots a handsome, mysterious man at a court masquerade and recognizes him the next morning at his introduction to the court. Asked to act as official scribe for the treaty talks, she happily agrees.Only she isn't just a scribe.
