Kindred Spirits

The Nethercott sisters -- China, Jade, and Sian -- recently lost their beloved father, who believed in ghosts with all his heart. So when China sees her first, she realizes the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree.

On her way home, China is dumbfounded to find a man in Roman centurion garb. Quintus Valerius explains that he is a ghost cursed to remain on earth until he can save one of his descendants from murder. Thus far his work has been in vain, but this time the Roman spirit has a plan.

Quintus will cause injury to Alexander, Major Lord Braddock, so China can keep him from his murderer. Tending the patient's wounds proves nigh impossible. Alexander refuses to stay put, and China can't keep from thinking about her handsome war hero in some very improper ways. But Quintus failed to mention the second part of the curse, and China's destiny may be linked with Alexander's -- to the death.
