Killing Innocence

A novel centered around the sensitive issue of abortion. After Annie's death, Avery Pearl found solace in his small law practice in a sleepy suburb of St. Louis. He's an agnostic, never much for religion or politics, but when a beautiful civil rights lawyer brings him May Davies to defend, Avery is catapulted into the religious and political spotlight. Missouri has banned all abortions, even those where the mother had been raped, like May. She's the test case, and Avery's natural charm may not be enough to keep her out of prison, nor save her from politicians and religious radicals bent on her destruction. May will have to save herself, which she can do only by revealing her connection to a mysterious power.
