About This Book

This book takes place in a fictional Kingdom called Kimbria, in a world not of our own. Kalina is seven years old. For the last year, since her mother died, she has attended a boarding school with her second cousin Keri, who is ten and an orphan. The boarding school is run by nuns, including their cousin Sister Ermentrude, who has been raising Keri since she lost both of her parents when she was only two. The cousins share the sadness of having lost one or both of their parents, but they also share much happiness as well, including being from a secret homeland called Kimberlee where they go to visit their great grandparents and many cousins. Kalina is surprised to learn from her father that her grandparents have just moved to their homeland and can now take her to live with them. Now she must decide if she will stay with Keri and Sister Ermentrude at boarding school, or live with her grandparents and other cousins. Note: The story of the characters of Kalina and her cousin Keri (Keridwen) are told in the novel "Of Wisdom and Valor: The Art of War. The Path of Peace." (Part II of The Windflower Saga trilogy.) This small chapter book is an introduction of their characters to young people.
