David feels isolated and alone. At thirteen years of age, he has no friends except for his father Peter, and his dog Princess. The loss of his mother and an accident that crippled his left arm, changed his life for the worse. Now his father struggles to make ends meet and his success at school is overshadowed by the constant bullying he endures from those who prey on the weak. Incapable of defending himself, David has only one place of refuge: the island of the Stone Cathedral - a curious rock formation on an island amid a turbulent lake. Locals have long stayed away, believing it to be a place cursed and haunted by spirits but David has not been so easily deterred. To him, the island is a haven; a bastion against the world outside. But the island is not all it seems. Deep within its bowels lies a power that has been dormant for thousands of years. And one fateful day, his school nemesis and a ravenous mountain lion send him careening into the path of the island's long concealed secret, changing his view of the world, as well as his life, forever.
