Well, not exactly. Adam had convinced the entire town that he and Annabelle were heading to the altar, but she knew the man she'd once hopelessly fallen in love with as a girl would never really marry her. Adam was just being his usual Prince Charming self by coming to her rescue. But now it was Annabelle herself chanting "poor me" -- hoping Adam would just say "I do" for real!
