Tazz Cantrelle—known for his way with a gun—had been sent to Yuma Prison for standing up to a crooked lawman. Every day spent there with dangerous killers and vicious guards was like a century in hell. So when Tazz was given the chance to leave, he could not refuse.

All he had to do was become the sheriff of Whitewater, Arizona. That was like taming twenty angry bears single-handed, for it was a wild town where miners and ranchers and thieves were at war with each other. In recent years, no sheriff had lasted very long in Whitewater. But Tazz was determined to make everyone behave if it killed him. And it probably would.
