About This Book

This is a short story.

She was attractive but mysterious. When a CPA takes a weekend vacation trip to Ocean City, Maryland, he finds himself returning a stray kite to a somewhat sad, beautiful mysterious lady in the apartment above him. He soon becomes attracted to her and she leads him on a journey back to her past. It will be a trip and a pretty lady he will not soon forget.

Excerpt:

Bought some but made the rest," she said almost under her breath as if it were a secret. She looked far off out the glass door that opened to the balcony, somewhere far off it seemed, somewhere beyond the present time. "I love kites, I love to make them but most of all I love to fly them," she added almost as quietly as before. "They're so, so beautiful when they soar high in the sky, free of any care. The only thing that holds them is that string and if you let it go—they're free…and they're gone. I almost think they want to be free sometimes."

Her eyelids blinked slowly as she looked at me with those magnetic green eyes. She was almost hypnotic. "I really want to thank you again for bringing my kite back. I thought I had lost it forever," she said.

"No problem. They're beautiful. "You're an accomplished craftsperson," I said, hoping I could think of something else to extend my stay with her. Then I remembered something, which caught my attention when I had driven in to the resort. "I know we just met but…. but….how do you feel about motor scooters?" I blurted out.

"Scooters?"

"Motor Scooters—You know those two wheeled things that look something like tame motorcycles with an Italian heritage."

"Oh yes, those things. I remember," she smiled. "What about them?"
"I saw a rental place about four blocks down as I drove in," I cheerfully said,
