Jake's Preacher Gig

Jake's mother built him a church. More precisely, Cora Mae Millsaps built a towering church for Hyacinth College in Plant City, Tennessee with the stipulation that her son Jake be named Interim Pastor. Jake is a fully-qualified pastor but he would have a hard time finding a job elsewhere. Jake has recently been released from prison where he was incarcerated for involuntary manslaughter. Jake's wife Linda is a rock musician. She's none too happy about her husband's new gig. Most of all she hates the Karaoke music they sing at his church."Jake's Preacher Gig" takes place at picturesque but fictitious Hyacinth College in Plant City, in East Tennessee. The time period is the 1989-1990 school year. One of Jake's primary duties is to develop a drug intervention program to combat the college's flagging enrollment. The point of view of this tale is unique: we see all action though the eyes of a group of stumbling demons. Our demons do not dispense curses, nor do they commit any physical mayhem. They exist only in the spiritual dimension and use their powers of suggestion to try to influence events in Jake's day-to-day life. Their purpose is to encourage chaos to undermine Jake's effectiveness as campus pastor. Jake's Preacher Gig is going to be a challenge!
