About This Book

Set over a period of fifty years, It's No' Raining follows the fortunes of two generations of the Grant family from the late Victorian era to the second World War. Detailing the rise of Albert and Ethel from workers on the Kinloch estate to owners, through the agency of fate and a little good fortune, of their own croft, it also follows the misadventures of their three sons, Cameron, Angus and Stuart. If to err is human, the Grants are surely the most human of us all. A pastiche of the works of Lewis Grassic Gibbon and Neil Gunn, the novel pays tribute to and preserves a bygone era of rural Scottish life while casting a modern eye over the period, creating a moving, sad and humorous tale.
