Ryan has read hundreds of books by top business minds. He can dance the Rain Dance of Action, spot Power Detractors a mile off, and ride the Enigma Dolphin (one-handed, if necessary). So how come he can't get promoted from his shelf-stacking job? And why doesn't the girl of his dreams seem to know he's alive? It Hurts to Watch sees two middle-class English worlds collide: one filled with self-consciously left-wing and hip booksellers, and another bursting with pompous status-obsessed City workers.
