Although she was barely twenty-one, Fran already felt she was in a rut. So she gave up the security of her secretarial position and set forth to look for the father she could barely remember. The journey took her to a remote island off the north coast of Scotland -- a far cry from Manhattan's streets -- and introduced her to a new family, a new way of life, and a new love.
