With her custom-painted Porsche 911 Carrera six-speed and high-paying banking career, Olga Evorova wants for nothing. What she needs, when she comes to John Cuddy's Boston Common office, is a background check on Andrew Dees, the man she hopes to marry-and a man with too many secrets. But what begins as a routine case quickly pulls Cuddy away from his ever-deepening relationship with Assistant D.A. Nancy Meagher-and into a downward spiral. At Dees' condo in a seedy South Shore town, an assortment of colorful neighbors reveals nothing out of the ordinary, but Cuddy's gut tells him they're lying. Then two mob thugs attack him, and even his old friend, Primo Zuppone, warns him that knowledge is trouble. And in the midst of the investigation, Cuddy faces a crisis with Nancy that throws his personal life into turmoil. Now, finding the truth about Dees-and fighting for the woman he loves-have both become a matter of survival.
