In the Quiet

Eleven-year-old Samantha is on a quest for magic. Everyday she and her best friend go digging in their neighbors' backyards, turning up ancient arrowheads and other treasures. They're looking for just the right magic to bring back the spirit of someone lost. Then Sammy might be able to be with her mother again, even for a few seconds.

In the months since her mother's death, Sammy has carefully kept all of her memories tucked safely inside her, in the quiet.

Then her aunt comes to live with Sammy and her father. She's not the kind of aunt Sammy was hoping for, one who makes mock apple pie and loves board games. Instead Aunt Constance has a special gift that helps her find things that are lost. But there's one thing that Aunt Constance has never been able to find, something that belonged to Sammy's mom. So she asks Sammy to help her. It will take all of Sammy's courage to complete this quest, but she is willing to risk everything if it means feeling close to her mom one more time.
