About This Book

Shaun, an orphan, a teenager from The Warren, a care home for children, is sick to death of being treated like a child. Authority is making his life a misery.

He runs away to Black Mountain out in the snow and meets Angus a 'mountain man'. Together they travel to the Heartlands, a secret place inside the Arctic Circle where Shaun marries Sheeba, a Yakutite Indian. He has a son called Daka who grows up to become a natural leader.

In the high mountains of the Heartlands, Shaun rescues from a crashed airliner, Sandy, an air hostess. While there she is discovered by an anonymous benefactor's agent. Good fortune shines on her as soon she discovers she has been bequeathed ten million pounds.

The story is one of spirit, wealth, friendship, love and the struggle to discover one's own 'heartland'.
