In the Grace's Cage

Mattie detected urgency in her surroundings. From what she could see of the landscape passing by, it seemed like the driver was speeding. At the sides of the roads, there were some cars pulled over with flashing emergency lights. A few people were getting out of their vehicles and running toward the nearby buildings to take cover. The main roads were largely devoid of traffic. The sky overhead was black, but only a light sprinkle was falling. Strong wind gusts pushed against the car from time to time. After a few turns, the driver slammed on the brakes as a light ahead turned red. She could hear the driver cursing softly under his breath. The street lamps and traffic lights flickered out. The storm meant business.
