ABOUT THE BOOK: Captain Jay McNair (later Fleet Captain) is a "genetically engineered "super warrior of the future. As a "techno," his original purpose was to battle the "Sims," slaves which were also genetically engineered. Hostile Waters (Book 1), introduced a future world in which mankind's last hope on earth was the underwater corporate world and civilization of Pacifica. When ordered to locate an important ship, lost on a mission critical to Pacifica's future, Captain McNair discovered an ancient and evil alien presence who, unknown to them, shared the waters with Pacifica. After eons of dormancy, this frightening menace was about to become active. In Third Dawn (Book 2), McNair again leads the forces of Pacifica and struggles with a terrifying enemy in a war of unknowns where victory seems possible only by joining forces with a potential ally who communicates telepathically but about which he knows nothing. Is this the "Third Dawn of Mankind" or the end of human existence? In Book 3, McNair's immediate superior, Admiral Shepard, has been taken over and is now controlled by the same evil alien that McNair is trying to capture.
