When a powerful storm blows in off the North Atlantic on her birthday, nonagenarian Ida Walsh is convinced disaster is coming to the small village of Heart's Ease. With her niece Elsie about to go into labour, and memories of a childhood tragedy looming large, can the fiery matriarch of the Walsh family find the strength to do what the people of her town expect of her?
