About This Book

About the author and book: David J. Heath is a new Minnesota novelist and holds a degree in Mass Communications from St. Cloud State University. Living in northern Minnesota, he is an avid woodsman and fisherman. The author's knowledge of the northern boreal forest is revealed in this descriptive tale of a serial killer of nearly indestructible power lurking in the land of lakes. This individual is a true beast of the forest who knows how to live off the land and not just the plants and animals of the forest. The Griffin is at the top of the food chain, and has morphed from a rebellious anti- government woodland hermit to an insane cannibal of the woods. If there ever was an animal like a Bigfoot, the Griffin is a close second. A barely human, crazed individual who believes he is Prometheus the Griffin, a Titan from Greek mythology. He becomes the enforcer of an old Indian legend, which he believes can free him from the wrath of the gods. Rice Bay is his domain, and he learns to protect it with a brutality that puts fear into the local residents of Tanner's Lake. The book unfolds in northern Minnesota as the frozen lake ice melts revealing the Griffin's work from the past winter….
