About This Book

It was true that Paris had been a disappointment to Faith Anderson, but not because she had been entranced with the "City of Lights." It was because of Ken Martin that Faith returned to Boston. She and wealthy playboy Ken had gone to Paris to work together on a book, he to write it and she to illustrate it. But several months of inactivity on Ken's part not only disillusioned Faith about his commitment to the book, it also changed her feelings for him as the man of her choice.

So Faith came home to Lime Street, to her parents' gracious townhouse on Beacon Hill, where she discovered that her father had engaged a young Vietnam war veteran to look after his collection of rare books. William Anderson belonged to a small but select coterie of rare book collectors, and his prized possession was the recent aquisition of Poe's Murders in the Rue Morgue. And Lewis Miller, the tall, slim librarian, seemed perfectly suited to his role as librarian for the Anderson collection.

As time went by, Faith found herself being drawn to Lewis. They shared many ideas in common, even though Lewis's views on war were far from Faith's pacifist attitudes. She even went so far as to consider herself in love with him, and he professed the same feeling for her. And then the unthinkable happened. The invaluable Poe volume was stolen from the library safe one evening after a party--and Lewis was looked on by everyone as the likely culprit...
