Emily is holidaying in Rome with Grazia when Grazia's boyfriend, a mysterious doctor with some very sinister secrets, is wounded by an anonymous gunman on a motorbike. Fearful for their lives, they all flee to the doctor's remote summer house in Apulia where they are soon joined by his headstrong daughter and an enigmatic Irishman who will fall for Emily.
Beset by demons from his past as well as shadows from his family's involvement in fascist atrocities in the village, Toni Cellamare is certain that the gunman is once again on his trail. He starts to show signs of losing his mind and will soon put all their lives at risk.
