About This Book

Tro-Fret was a lonely old house high on the Northumberland Fells. When Kate Mitchell applied for a job there as a part time secretary she had no knowledge of the strange household that was composed only of men. Her employer Maurice Rossiter was an embittered victim of polio subject to fits of temper and depression. Kate could not understand his peculiar hatred of his elder brother Logan on whose charity Maurice was forced to depend. It wasn't until she accidentally saw Maurice and Logan's fiancee together that she began to realize some of the secrets of Tor-Fret and found that against her will she was becoming far too deeply involved with Logan Rossiter and the other inhabitants of this mysterious household.
