Lovely auburn-haired Tory Stanford found herself caught up in a perplexing mystery -- and in grave personal danger.

Her wealthy Uncle, Jess Stanford, for whom she worked as executive secretary and "right hand man," had disappeared into thin air when Tory received his mysterious letter, begging her to don a disguise, leave St. Louis on the next flight and meet him covertly on Sanibel Island, Florida.

There, Tory finds no trace of her missing uncle, but she does find herself vigorously pursued by no one, but two attractive men: tall, blond Lars Lindle, and dark, secretive Scott Bannister.

As Tory is swept up in the search for her Uncle Jess, she soon learns of his seeming involvement in the smuggling of sensitive computer technology to enemy agents. Racing against time to find Jess Stanford and prove him innocent, it becomes increasingly clear to Tory that one of the men in her life is a cold-blooded killer—who has marked her as his next target.
