Reporter Rigel Lynx has been blacklisted from his San Francisco beat. He knows zip about fly-fishing, but he needs the paying magazine piece on trout. So he hits the Northern California hamlet of Pomo Bluff for his bold foray into the unexplored vistas of steelhead, new romance...and unexpected murder.

The victim is a nefarious art dealer, found at a local inn; where Rigel is staying. The death is ruled accidental, but soon Rigel's trying to catch a killer. And he's hooked -- to a mystery that seems to involve the entire town, to a murder, and to a lover hiding secrets of her own. Casting his lures, he discovers fishing's greatest truism: the ones you catch can't compare to the ones that get away....
