Catherine Benson and Julie Grant have been friends since their school-days, so it's only natural that, when volunteers are required to spend a week in a haunted house for the purposes of psychic research, they should decide to travel together to Malamey Croft. The leader of the expedition, Philip Sinclair, has his own reasons, however, for wanting to discover who -- or what -- haunts the ancient manor house, and the two girls are led gradually into a web of terror from which it becomes increasingly difficult to escape.
