Hooch

Chopper down to LZ Babs, snick your safety off, and get ready to hump the boonies with Two Squad, cherry! You is family now! Private Hooch has been drafted into the U. S. Army and packed off to the Central Highlands of South Vietnam, where he and his buddies learn to fight only as much war as they have to. Local Viet Cong elude them and North Vietnamese regulars ignore them. Private Hooch goes AWOL and sinks into the maelstrom of Saigon's underworld; that is until US Customs Agent Malevarian gets wind of Hooch and his American GI buddies smuggling marijuana out of Thailand! Detective Malevarian is not about to allow a rinky dink war get in the way of his mission to stop the flow of illegal narcotics into Western Civilization. But first he must deal with Thai generals, local prostitutes, corrupt Vietnamese police, CIA rogue elephants, and the all-powerful Chinatown mobsters of Cholon---not to mention his own inept, hard-drinking colleagues at the US Embassy! Having evaded arrest and AWOL, Hooch melds into the San Francisco scene of 1968 and goes native, embracing the counter culture and psychedelics.
