Against all odds, the Legion has just restaked its claim on the volatile Cumbre star system--not an easy win. The isolated and highly outnumbered Legion had to fight this civil war guerrilla-style--and without any help from the human Confederation government. In fact, the Confederation has remained ominously silent all along....

With their enemies temporarily subdued, the Last Legion must now answer the question on everyone's lips: What has happened to the Confederation, the power that holds together a thousand star systems, the government the Legion serves? Why has there been not a single word from them, especially during the Legion's time of need? To answer these questions, the Legion must travel from one galaxy to another to gather information. But can they keep their mission a secret from enemy forces long enough to discover the truth?
