Phoenix Sands is returning home after living in Hong Kong for five years. Her widowed father, Capt. Sands of the Chicago police department is worried. When she left, his division in Chinatown was in the middle of a high crime period in which her mother was killed. Now that she's returning, Chinatown is once again in turmoil. She's brought with her a friend, Sung Wu Chen, who will be staying there. Can he keep her safe? Is there more than just friendship between the two or does her old boyfriend, Pete Stover still have a chance? How will she cope with the near death of her best friend, Freddie Koy? And what connection does Sung have with the trouble in Chinatown?
