Adam Havenhurst, the handsome new vicar of Pixley, is aghast to find a progressive school for young ladies in the middle of his parish. Convinced that Grace Edgewood is a meddlesome upstart determined to lure young ladies into sin by teaching them Latin, calculus, and worse, fencing and swimming, he vows to expose her as a menace to the fabric of English society. Never mind that she is the most heavenly creature he's ever seen...or that he has fallen head over heels in love with her.

How dare that sanctimonious man demand she "repent" when she has done nothing wrong other than broaden the horizons of her fellow females. Though Grace's curriculum has caused quite a scandal amongst Pixley's less enlightened citizens, the school itself is thriving, no thanks to the new vicar, a man too handsome, charming, and quick-witted to be such an insufferable prig! Inexplicably, her sworn detractor has the infuriating ability to make her heart beat with the mad wish to become his saving grace.
