When Kate arrived in town seeking a reunion with him, Velma admamently opposed it. When Lucas finally agrees to a meeting, he finds out the truth of his past, with the shelter he had been granted being the biggest blessing.

Kate has a law degree, but is better known as an investigator that helps put families back together. She knows that her work with adoptions, divorces, and other such social challenges can have lasting effects on kids and even adults. She came to Bingham Shores tracking Lucas down using her investigative skills.
