About This Book

Jack is in trouble, he is chained and cemented and thrown off the side of a boat - I was out cold until I hit the water. It was freezing and I immediately awoke. My senses had no time to figure out what was going on, I was in the sea, it was cold, I was heavy and sinking fast.
But Jack is nothing if he is not adaptable and he keeps battling away:
I don't know how long this desperate struggle went on but it went on and on and on. It could have been minutes, hours or was it days? I was exhausted, I had no strength left and I started to sink. If I was going to drown, I might as well accept my fate. I kicked harder, I had no stamina left, I was done for, I wanted to throw in the towel but I kicked and then I kicked some more. Inside my head I was singing: One more river one more river to Jordan one more river one more river to cross. I sang those few badly remembered lines over and over and over. I pushed my battered body, I demanded it to work, it worked, it flagged, I was exhausted. I couldn't go on so I pushed harder, my body was stiff, my muscles ached, I couldn't feel my legs and a pain throbbed up into my head but the worse I felt the harder I worked. I kicked for my life and I kept kicking. In London he meets a beautiful girl:
She appeared from nowhere, her eyes sparkled and she had a sort of cheeky seductive grin, she took hold of my hand with her small delicate fingers and looked up into my eyes.
'Where did you appear from?' I said.
She pressed my fingers and grinned again.
'I was just dancing down the street and I saw you and instantly I knew.'
'Knew what?'
'That you were the one.'
She had a very quiet voice, so quiet that it wasn't until she had stopped speaking that I could put her words together. She wore one of those brightly coloured Hawaiian dresses called a Muumuu.  Her jet black hair was a mass of small curls, her eyes were a rich brown, she wore a gold stud through her nose and her lips were painted bright pink.
Jack is over the moon and deserts the army but is recaptured and then a London Supermarket is attacked by terrorist:
I was taken to his office but this time it was just he two of us.
'I'm sorry Sir,' I said, 'but you can't put me in small dark spaces and expect me to stay there, I can't handle small dark spaces.
'Hmm,' he said again.
'Any chance of a cold beer?' I said.
'If I had my way...'
'I know, you'd have me court martialled and shot.'
'We are not going to shoot you.'
'Don't put me back in that hole.'
'There has been a terrorist attack. on a supermarket complex.'
'What's that got to do with me?'
'It only happened about an hour ago, the police are clearing the area but they can't get inside, we need a small specialist tactical group to enter the complex.'
'Good I hope you find them.'
'It will be dangerous but we think you can pull it off.'
'Why me? You hate me.'
'We are told that you are good.'
'Well that's the first I've heard about it and anyway, never believe everything you're told.'
'We need good men. We need you.'
What could I say, everyone wants to be needed.
So Jack is back in the SAS and in action if you want to find out more go to the look inside feature and see how the story begins.
