Reviews:

"Dear Jess! By occasion I came to read some of your writings, which came to me as a fresh and original way of thinking/approach. . .The reason of my writings to you is [that] many years ago, I received a Word of the Lord in my mind, which is remarkably accurate with your vision of books."
-- E-mail from a male reader/customer (2011)

"Based on the three books I've read, I can say that you're a brilliant writer. They are not shallow reads. Your books do not only entertain but they also make you reflect on what is really important in one's life."
-- E-mail from a female reader, 2011 (The Philippines)

"Great characters and a fascinating look at today's culture."
-- Kipp Poe | Review on "The Intern" (YA Sins07, Lust)

Excerpt:

Sadie should've listened to her gut. She knew it was a bad idea for both herself and Brandi to audition for Singing Idol 2012 in the Fall of 2011. It wasn't even something she wanted to do really do, but their mother had pushed both of them to try out for it. Brandi had auditioned in 2010, and didn't make the cut, though she'd taken the judges' comments to heart on how she could improve and stand a better chance during the auditions the following year.

The bright camera lights and buzz of hopeful contestants auditioning were enough to make Sadie dizzy. She struggled to remember the lyrics to the song she'd chosen to sing in front of the judges, Christina Aguilera's Beautiful, though the judges weren't particularly blown away with her subdued, folksy rendition.

"I'm not really feeling it," the female diva judge at the center of the table in the bling-bling dress let Sadie know. "Sorry, baby."

The looks from the faces of the other two judges let Sadie know that they weren't really getting it either, though they all exchanged polite smiles as Sadie made her way out the exit without the coveted yellow slip of paper which said the contestants would be Going to Hollywood.

Brandi was the next person up after Sadie. She could be heard from outside the room, belting out Beyonce's rendition of the Etta James hit, All I Could Do Was Cry.

"OH, MY SOUL!" the first judge exclaimed, almost falling off his chair. He was a rocker in his sixties in his usual attire of feathered hat and shirt open to his belly.

The female judge nodded and said, "This girl's gotta have it."

"You're going to Hollywood!" the third judge with a bright yellow pin badge on his shirt that spelled out the word "YO" confirmed, as he handed Brandi the official form which said she'd made it to the next round.
