Hawk Mountain

Seven years after the Civil War has ended, Sarah Green lives alone on the family farm in Laurel County, Kentucky with her family, Tollie, who makes life miserable for her with his drinking and violent tendencies. She flees for her life to Lexington. Her brothers come to retrieve her holding out the promise of a better life if she returns. They become friends with the black families on Hawk Mountain and Sarah has soon claimed a life truer to her nature. And then a mountain man named Ian McFarland rescues her in a snowstorm. Her life becomes filled with a new promise that she never could have imagined before.
