Haunting Scream

A haunting scream floated on the breath of a hot summer breeze. The mournful cry echoed throughout the bayou while the willowy limbs of the Spanish moss swayed in its wake.
HE PROWLS THE CITY
Clarice Bordelon is a journalist at the Times-Picayune newspaper in New Orleans. When her sister goes missing no one will listen - not even her husband. An insensitive remark by a policeman prompts her to research missing women of a certain socioeconomic status and color. The results are staggering. The deeper she digs the more she realizes her city has a huge problem and it's not new, it goes back years.
BY COVER OF NIGHT
Armed with this new information she tries in vain to convince the authorities to launch a search. Worse, she's labeled a conspiracy theorist. Clarice fights back the only way she knows how, by writing a series of articles to share her newfound knowledge. In doing so she attracts the attention of the one person she'd warned the city about. Now that his work's been revealed the killer is eager to share more with the author herself.

Homicide Detective Jesse Thomas is in New Orleans to attend a conference. He's brought Meagan McInnis with the intention of turning a business trip into a romantic holiday. Then fate intervenes. They meet up with his old friend, Andre Bordelon and his wife, Clarice. The women hit it off instantly and make plans for multiple excursions.
