Hattie is broken. After nearly a year of abuse and torture, Hattie's faith in people is shattered. Her physical injuries will heal, but will her heart ever be able to mend?

Mark is strong and protective, but reserved and quiet. His heart is worn out from the strain that has come with taking down the Benson operation and rescuing damaged women. When he brings Hattie to the rescue house, he can't take any more. He determines to go back to the ranch, and heal his spirit from the suffering he's seen.
