For all of her thirteen years, Mary Kineery has had a near-perfect life in the sweetest town on Earth, Hershey, PA, with her mom and dad, good friends and good times. Then the bottom drops out. Mom is dead, Dad turns into a stranger, Mary's favorite aunt disappears and her friends are suddenly far away. Sent to live with her grandparents in the Pennsylvania countryside, Mary feels alone and forgotten until a mysterious dark-haired girl, full of energy and mischief, with the unlikely name of Ecila, pops into her life, and takes her for a wild ride.
