About This Book

Breathe. Breathe in the cold. "He wants you a little less arrogant, more...respectful." The guard shrugged. "So, take away the Blades, and give you a little workout to remind you of your place." "Stay. Back." Scythe tried to hold the cold close. 'But, I like the heat, ' the voice in his head laughed, and the cold evaporated. The man froze instantly, his eyes widening when Scythe turned to face him fully. "Or. Come." His heart quickened, finally, in anticipation, and he let them see it in his eyes. "All of you. I need to learn my place." Halfblood Heritage tells the story of Scythe, a thirteen year old with two races written on his face, who struggles to find his place in a world that is intolerant of him. As an eternal outsider, his eyes become very sharp, clearly seeing both the delights and the frailties of the Kin and Human worlds. Scythe is caught between two societies that despise each other. While living on the frontier where the conflict between the Human and Kin is strongest, he is kidnapped by well meaning Humans only to find that his mother's people keep him like a bird in a cage. When he is reunited with the Kin years later, he is immediately inducted into the military. One night, he finds that he has inherited a powerful ability that is rare in Humans and unknown among the Kin. What looks like a gift turns into a curse when he becomes a target for recruitment by a secret organization he suspects was behind his kidnapping. Soon, he finds himself plunged into the center of pivotal events for both peoples. Halfblood Heritage is the first in the Halfblood Series: Halfblood Heritage, Halfblood Journey and Halfblood Legacy."
