Rain Morgan is on assignment in the French Riviera for the London Daily Post. She is on the trail of a hot story about Sabine Jourdain and her long affair with the famous painter, Marius Durance. But on the eve of their scheduled interview Sabine is mysteriously murdered and Rain's promising article shrivels to a short obituary piece. Against the wishes of her companion, Oliver, a cartoonist for the same paper, Rain feels compelled to investigate. The police consider her their prime suspect among many despite her efforts at detection. And Raine invites danger by questioning members of Durance's coterie: a mixture of jealous artists and greedy international art dealers who dabble in smuggling.
