About This Book

This collection of short stories is Farrell's Critical Thesis while receiving his MFA in Writing at Vermont College. The stories focus on the relationship between a father and a son, that thin tragic line that separates fierce love and bitter hatred.

Richie Farrell received the du-Pont-Columbia for the HBO documentary film, "High on Crack Street: Lost Lives in Lowell." The film inspired the 2010 motion picture "The Fighter," nominated for seven Oscars and garnering two Oscars for Christian Bale and Melissa Leo.

Farrell also wrote the bestselling nonfiction "A Criminal and an Irishman: The True Story of the IRA – Boston Mob Connection" and his memoir, "I am a Heroin Addict," addresses America's heroin epidemic.

All proceeds from the sale of "Growing Up Irish" go towards Farrell's battle to help end America's worst health crisis: The Heroin Epidemic.
