When Erica visited the vast Crosswyn estate in Queensland, she found herself surrounded by unexpected luxury. Yet she wasn't quite happy. She no longer felt sure of urbane, easy-going Jeremy, and as for his brother Matt... dark... threatening... disapproving, she had distrusted him from the first moment she set eyes on him.

With the addition of some difficult female inmates: sleek, predatory Lilyan; disabled and nervous Jenny; and Flo, who was dead but whose presence visibly still influenced the household; plus the echoes of a dying gipsy woman's last mysterious message; it was not surprising that Erica viewed her 'holiday' with some apprehension.
