About This Book

The general elections in Zambia are over, and a new winner has emerged. With the change of government comes the change of the national policy. Socialism and Marxist Leninism gets thrown out of the window, and capitalism makes its way in. Vince Kunda is now acting head of the Special Investigations Team on Economy and Trade (S.I.T.E.T.), the organization that investigates money laundering and corruption cases. Archie Moyo, his former case officer, is a high ranking official in the new government. Personality clashes between them that used to be glossed over in the past have become apparent, and grown canyon wide. Time to settle scores has finally come. Since Archie now has easy access to arms of government that he can use to enforce his wishes. Vince faces the prospect of coming out second best in all these clashes. Seen as a relic from the old regime, with S.I.T.E.T. regarded as simply a tool for mass oppression, Vince has to make a choice. The two options are available to him are that he either reforms, or gets thrown out of the system. When Vince finds himself on the front pages of daily newspapers, exposed as the new head of the ‘dreaded’ S.I.T.E.T., a Pandora’s Box opens up. Ghosts from the past come calling. Vince is recognized as a long lost heir to chiefdom in the northern region of the country. As luck would have it, the reigning chief is a good friend of Archie. And then there is Helen, the ever efficient secretary at S.I.T.E.T., who has demons that only stir up when she has taken one too many bottles of beer…
